Sony Ericsson Acro Leaked

Posted: 10 Apr 2011 10:10 AM PDT

The picture above shows the backplate of the Sony Ericsson Acro (SO-02C). The phone will be launched exclusive to the Japanese networks. The Acro would be thicker than the Arc but will gain a couple of important features such as an NFC chip, TV Tuner and an infrared port. The phone will be available in 3 colours- Black, Blue and White. Looking at the backplate, we can almost be sure that the phone will have a Xenon flash. Even though not as likely it could very well be a Dual LED flash or a single LED flash and a speaker as the digital image below indicates. If the picture above is just a fake render and the Xenon flash turns out to be real, then the Acro will be one of the first Xenon equipped Android smartphones. This picture below which is supposedly taken by the Acro gives us a peak at the flash unit. via | Source

Nokia X7 is not killed , coming soon to 3 UK with the all new Symbian update

Posted: 10 Apr 2011 08:34 AM PDT

The Nokia X7-00 has been making noise for quite some time now and there was some talk about the handset being shelved after it did not launch on AT&T USA. Now the handset is pretty much alive and on it's way to 3 UK and is shown off in a video from the UK carrier itself who decided to give a sneak peek of the X7. Watch the video below for the proof. httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QXswtCa7Qeo Specs wise it has a 4 inch CBD Display , 8 MP Camera which can do HD video recording (EDoF , no auto-focus from what we see in that video). The most interesting part is that this seems like the first Nokia handset to ship with the new Symbian update which includes new icons, revamped browser and a portrait QWERTY keyboard. Thanks Mahesh !

Screens: Super LCD vs AMOLED Clear Black Display

Posted: 09 Apr 2011 10:30 PM PDT

Screen Technologies! After monochromatic displays, we had LCDs for a long time, then all of a sudden, we seem to be bombarded by new technologies. OLED, AMOLED, Super-LCD, Super-AMOLED, Clear Black Display, LED, 3D, Retina Display... there are so many we can't even begin to wrap our heads around. In this post, we will show you a few pictures to compare the Super LCD display on the HTC Desire Z and the AMOLED Clear Black Display on the Nokia E7. Brightness Settings Even though this isn't a factor due to the screen technology, but to the manufacturer's setting of the display, I thought it'd be interesting to mention the differences in brightness settings between both, as this is what the end user will be stuck with, when choosing a device (and hence a screen technology and a manufacturer setting) over the other. One of the downfalls of the E7's screen experience for me has been the big limitation on display brightness controls. No matter how low you go, the Clear Black Display will remain way too bright to be used conveniently in a dark room. And no matter how high you go on the setting, it will remain a bit darker than other displays, ...
