A new prepaid combo pack has been introduced by MTNL especially for the mumbaikars. The recharge coupons have been offered to make it easier for the users to use voice, SMS and data benefits from a single coupon.

Tata Docomo was the first one to start the trend of combo packs and now it was time for MTNL to introduce such an advantageous facility.  This MTNL combo pack is available at Rs.298. In this; you will get a talk time of Rs.250, 125MB data usage and 250 local and national SMS absolutely for free! You have to use the free data and SMSs within 30 days of the recharge.

MTNL provides one of the best data charges in India. It deducts 1 paisa for 10 KB usage from both 3G as well as 2G customers, which is very much convenient. And moreover, these rates are applicable for both home and roaming usage. Unlike other service providers, MTNL has only one coupon under this scheme!

Aircel and Bharti Airtel to Launch iPhone 4 in India

Bharti Airtel, one of the leading operators of 3G mobile service in India, and Aircel, have together announced that they are going to launch iPhone 4 in India in the upcoming months. However, both Bharti Airtel and Aircel have refused to provide further details on the same.

iPhone 4 from Apple was launched last year (2010) in the month of June. Regarded as the world's most innovative phone, some interesting features of iPhone 4 include Apple's retina display, which is the highest resolution display ever used in a phone, as well as FaceTime, a feature that makes video calling a reality.

Compared to the first iPhone, iPhone 4 is much sleeker and also more advanced than the former. iPhone 4 is available in white or black and the front as well as the back of the phone is covered with glass. It is also rimmed with stainless steel which acts as part of the antenna.

 

New Value Added Services from BSNL

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd., popularly known as BSNL, has launched three value added services for its next generation 2G as well as 3G customers across all the telecom circles. Just check them out!

Video SMS (3G Users): For using this service, a user needs to make a video call to 58877, follow the instructions, type the phone number of the recipient, and thereafter,  record the video message. The recipient of the video SMS will get a web link of the video from which he or she can download and view the message.

Live Share (2G/3G): This will enable the users to record and share videos instantly via their mobile phones. Users can also share videos with their friends on social networking sites like Facebook, YouTube and Twitter or can share videos directly through a free SMS. But for this, users need to have a BSNL 3G or GPRS connection.

Dial a Video (3G Users): Users can access this service in 3G networks by just making a video call to a short code 51010 and selecting the content as well as the application of their choice. But for this, users should have handsets which support video calls.

 

Uninor Launches Low Denomination Recharges in Andhra Pradesh

Good news from Uninor, a GSM service provider owned by the Telenor Group based in Norway and India's Unitech! It has announced lifetime validity as well as full time talk on a series of low denomination recharges for its customers in Andhra Pradesh.

This offer will be available to those customers who recharge with as low as Rs. 10, Rs. 20, Rs. 30, and Rs. 50. Samsung Galaxy SII Smartphone Likely to Hit Markets Soon

According to Samsung, the company is expected to launch its latest Galaxy SII smartphone during this month. This has been said by Samsung on its official Twitter account, though nothing has been mentioned about the date or the markets where the phone is going to be launched. However, it was mentioned that this smartphone will hit several markets.

Some of the interesting features of Galaxy SII smartphone include a 4.27 inch Super AMOLED Plus display, Touchwiz 4.0 user interface design, a 2 megapixel front camera for video chats, an 8 megapixel camera having the capability of capturing 1080p video, a dual core processor, 1 GB RAM, 3.5 mm audio jack, 32 GB MicroSD slot, MP3 support, WiFi, 3D TouchWiz UX, Google Mobile Services as well as 4 hubs, namely, Social hub, Music hub, Readers hub and Game hub. The phone runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

As far as price of Galaxy SII smartphone is concerned, it is likely to be somewhere around Rs. 30,000.

Air India Launches Mobile Check-in Facility for Passengers

In order to reduce the size of queues at the airport, a mobile check-in facility has been launched by Air India. With the help of this service, the passengers of Air India will be able to check in via their WAP or GPRS enabled handsets on the go. Sounds interesting, isn’t it?

According to an official of Air India, the mobile check-in facility of Air India that will be available for all domestic travel from Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Bangalore from Thursday, will be gradually extended to other stations as well as international flights.

For availing this service, the passengers need to check-in for their flights from their web-enabled mobile phones by accessing http://flyai.mobi and entering all the required information on the consecutive screens. At present, check-in can be done for a single passenger in one go and for more than one passenger, the whole process needs to be repeated.

Apple iPhone 5 Production to Start in September

The production of the Apple iPhone 5 should start in September according to a note held by Avian Securities today. Additionally it was said that even if  the iPhone 5 was announced in June or July, it might not hit the market until late this year or early next year. They also hinted that the cheaper/ lower spec'd iPhone that was the topic of rumours over the past few months might very well be real. The information was gathered from coversations held with a key component supplier for Apple. Source

Samsung Galaxy S II UK Availability Confirmed : May 1st

Samsung announced that the successor to the I9000 Galaxy S - the I9100 Galaxy S II will be available to the customers in the UK for purchase starting from May 1st. There was a lot of speculation surrounding the release date of the Galaxy S II. The release date varied from April-June depending on the retailer offering the product. The rumours fired up again that the phone would be delayed after Samsung made the announcement that the processor would be upgraded to 1.2GHz. But now Samsung have stepped up and officially announced that we will see the phone at stores in the UK on May 1st. Pricing is yet to be revealed but UK retailer Clove estimates it to be 528 GBP including VAT.

Nokia E72 Firmware Updated To Version 054.005

Nokia E72 got a new  firmware update after a long gap from the 052.005 that was released last November. The new version 054.005 is now available as an Over the Air (OTA) update, but may require Nokia Software updater or OVI suite Change log SIM Lock 3.0 and B2B Certificate, phase 1 added Startup settings baseline updated (wk47, 2010) (new dates etc.) After a hard reset or on first use, Camera shortcut is replaced with Ovi Store shortcut in the Home screen Removal of Ovi Files (service is now outdated) Vlingo application removed Some user have reported better battery life and better auto-focus in the camera. Nokia Drop – Push Images and Links from PC to your Nokia phone

Nokia Drop which is an experimental app from Nokia Beta labs lets you push images and links from your PC to your phone with a single click. This app is similar to Chrome to Phone app for Android devices. This requires data connection on your phone but doesn't need Wi-Fi or 3G. This is better than Chrome to Phone app on Android, which requires Dropbox account, but Nokia drop uses your OVI account to connect between the browser extension and phone app. Features of Nokia Drop App Send links from browser to your phone with a single click. Send images to your phone in single click. Set as wallpaper option lets you send the image to your phone sets it as wallpaper. BSNL launches New Value Added Services for 2G and 3G Customers

BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd) has launched three new Value Added Services (VAS) for its 2G and 3G subscribers across the country. Video SMS, Live share and Dial a video, lets users send video SMS, Share videos online and browse preferred contents by making a video call. Video SMS feature lets the users record a video on their 3G enabled handsets by making a video call to 58877. Type in the number to whom you want to send the video and send it. The receiver will get a web link via SMS through which they could download and view your video. The receiver doesn't need any video calling or 3G enabled handsets for viewing these videos. Live share lets the users record a video and share it on sites like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. This requires an app and works on both 2G and 3G connection. SMS LIVE to 58877 to get the link for downloading the app or visit the URL to download the app for Symbian handsets. LG Optimus 3D India launch in May ?

LG just launched the Optimus 2X and Black in India and now there is news about the Korean handset maker launching the Optimus 3D in India which features a glasses-free 3D display and a 3D stereoscopic camera. The handset was scheduled to launch in June in UK and now it seems like the India launch too will happen in the May-June period. Aircel (not to be confused with Airtel ) too will also be launching the iPhone 4 in India the coming months. This is getting interesting. This is the first time anyone apart from Airtel or Vodafone is partnering with Apple for the iPhone in India. Only today morning , Airtel announced that it would be bringing the iPhone 4 to India.
