T-Mobile – G2 will get Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) this quarter Posted: 13 Apr 2011 10:34 AM PDT T-Mobile's G2 of USA will get Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) update says Computer World. This phone is the successor of Google's first Android phone G1, manufactured by HTC and sold via T-Mobile USA. This phone was launched last October and is the first HSPA+ device in USA with the download speeds of 14.4Mbps . The European variant of this phone HTC Desire Z will get Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) update within the Q2 of this year. via Phandroid |
Posted: 13 Apr 2011 08:41 AM PDT Korean Electronics giant Samsung held it's first Southwest Asia Regional Forum at New Delhi today. The company launched LED TVs , Bluray players, Monitors, Cameras, Home appliances and Mobile Devices too. Since we are most interested in this aspect, let's take a look at what Sammy showcased today. The Galaxy S2 along with the Galaxy Tab 8.9,10.1 were shown off. Also a bunch of android handsets - Galaxy Fit, Ace, Pop, Pro were on display. The good news is that the Galaxy S2 is coming to India next month for around Rs.35k. The company did not reveal the pricing of the tabs. We also got hold of the spec sheets of the Galaxy S2 , Tab 8.9 and 10.1 which are embedded below. Sony Ericsson XPERIA Arc preview Posted: 13 Apr 2011 02:12 AM PDT The Sony Ericsson XPERIA Arc is the Japanese-Swedish mobile phone manufacturer's latest assault on the smartphone market. Will they succeed when other manufacturers are upping their game? Unlike Samsung, Motorola, HTC and LG, Sony Ericsson has decided to go with a different route to their new flagship Android smartphone. While every Android manufacturer has unveiled ever more powerful flagships that runs on dual-core processors, have the latest GPU and even including features like 3D cameras and displays, the XPERIA Arc's specifications is modestly 'last year'. The XPERIA Arc runs on the Qualcomm MSM 8255 Snapdragon System-on-Chip featuring a single core 1 GHz Scorpion CPU and Adreno 205 GPU backed up by 512MB RAM. While this may seem inadequate in today's world of dual-core phones, I actually found the XPERIA Arc to be a great performer. Sony Ericsson has obviously learned their lesson from the original XPERIA X10. They got rid of Mediascape UI, but retained Timescape UI and widgets. Obviously the fact that it runs on the latest Android optimised for smartphone, version 2.3 Gingerbread, helped. I found the Overview mode on the Arc's homescreen to be very useful. Samsung Galaxy S2 India Launch in May at Rs.30000-35000 Posted: 13 Apr 2011 01:20 AM PDT Samsung is holding their Samsung SWA FORUM 2011 on April 13 & 14th in New Delhi and the company just announced the launch of the Galaxy S2 launch for India. The Galaxy S2 is likely to launch in India in May at a market price of Rs.35000 approx. We are not sure if Sammy is going to launch the 1GHz version or the 1.2 GHz version like in UK. May is not far away and we expect official confirmation shortly. Air India Introduces Mobile Check-in Posted: 11 Apr 2011 04:25 AM PDT Air India has introduced mobile check-in facility that lets mobile customers check-in from their WAP/GPRS enabled mobile phones. This facility is available across six metros - Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Bengaluru for domestic flights. To check into your flight go to flyai.mobi from your phone's browser and enter the details like booking number, date, flight number, origin etc. . This is simple to use and eliminates large queues and waiting time in the airports. Passengers with check-in baggage may also use this method. For those who prefer web, there is also web check-in option available in the Air India website under 'manage your trip'. Mobile Check-in would be rolled out in other cities in phased manner. International flight check-in feature would also be introduced soon. |
